115 Days!

So 115 days till I become
Katy Hollands!
I am so excited!
 I have been thinking about
what it means to be a wife.
Ever read Proverbs 31?
I have been reading it in a new light
and would have to say that it
is a little bit scary
in all honesty!
So here is my question for you all:
I am studying through Proverbs 31
and the first word that caught my eye was
virtuous.
A virtuous woman.
What do you think of when you think of a virtuous woman?

Multitude Monday-Getting started once again!

holy experience

It has been awhile since I have done a Multitude Monday.
For those of you who don't remember
Anna over at Hope Road Blog inspired
me to count my blessings and to
actually make a list of 1,000 blessings
and post 10 of those blessings every Monday as a part of
I have done two posts so far then things got
crazy but hopefully I will be able to be more regular :)
Feel free to visit the link and start counting your own blessings!
So here we go! :)
21- my fiancee! Oh to be able to even SAY that word!
He is the love of my life and a prince among men!
I am just in awe that the Lord brought him into my life!
22-my beautiful engagement ring!
It was cheaper then the one Jason had originally picked
out and fits me even more perfectly!
(Don't worry the engagement story is in the
process of being written up!)
23-a temporary job that came at just the right time!
I am going to be a receptionist at my chiropractors office!
The Lord worked it out just perfectly and I love
doing that kind of thing so I am super excited!
Plus the fact that my boss will be one of the most
influential people in my life!
Super excited!
24-117 days. Till what?
Till I become Mrs. Jason Hollands!
God is amazing!!!!
25-An amazing family that I love so very much!
26-wedding details falling in place
(does anyone have any suggestions
or tips that helped your day go well?
I would love to hear them!)
27-A God Who is so very patient and forgiving!
With Him as my King and
Jason as my prince
I could not be more blessed!
He is so good!
28-School going well so far.
29-amazing friends
and the memories that are made with them!
30-Another day to live.
What are you thankful for today?

Real life isn't always like the courtship books? WHAT?

Hey all!
So I am sitting at school
waiting for my 1st class of the
day to start.
I was thinking about updating
and was just browsing through some post
over at
and came across an article entitled
Instantly the title grabbed my attention
so I clicked on it and read it.
And I ask you to do the same thing.
Did you read it?
Awesome!
So you may be asking what is the point?
Well, I haven't really shared a lot of details about
my relationship with Jason because honestly
I have been afraid to.
Why?
Well, because our courtship is not at all like all the books
I grew up reading.
And I was afraid that people would think I was less holy because of it.
Have you gotten the gist that I am a real people pleaser yet?
Writing a post like this absolutely terrifies me because
I know that some of my readers will not agree with me and I hate
even the possibility of conflict.
So why, if I hate conflict so much, am I writing this post?
Because I really felt I needed to.
I feel as though I need to share.
I feel I need to give you all a little glimpse into my relationship with Jason.
So I am going to share the comment I wrote on

"I really appreciate this post. I definitely agree that courtship books in and of themselves are not wrong but when I was younger I was obsessed with them to the point of creating very legalistic rules for myself (all while I was not dating or even close) that I thought would make me more pure and essentially more holy. I was in one courtship relationship and we did it all by the books literally. And yet-all the rules did nothing to prevent my heart from being shattered when some things in his life came to light and my Dad (who is my hero for doing it) ended our courtship.
I really struggled after that because we had done everything “right” and yet it had still failed and I still got hurt.
Well, the Lord is gracious and he literally plopped me in front of the man that on May 21, 2011 will become my husband. We didn’t do things by the books and yet…the Lord blessed. He kissed me the day we got engaged and honestly I waited to feel guilty (because of the years of my mindset that I would be less pure if I even dared to think about kissing my husband before my wedding day)  and yet-I didn’t. I realized that saving your first kiss for your husband does not necessarily mean that it will make you any less pure if it is not on your wedding day but before (even though I have the highest respect for those who do wait till their wedding day!)
Our love story has been nothing like the books but oh our Father in Heaven has written us a beautiful love story! One that is a million times better then I ever could have imagined! For so long I tried to hold on to MY rules and the way I thought courtship should be…and in the end I realized my Jesus just wanted me to surrender my love story to Him so He could be in complete control and when I did-I realized that His ways truly ARE so much better than ours!

Note:
A reader commented on this and brought up the point that we should have standards of excellence
and I totally agree and am very glad he pointed it out.
I am not condoning throwing out every single rule or standard
and I just wanted to make sure that was clear.
That was not my point.
What I am saying is that in my own personal life
I became so obsessed with man made rules and regulations
that I started relying on them to determine
how holy I was or how unholy I was.
I was so full of pride,
arrogance, hypocrisy and self-righteousness
that there was no room left for Jesus!
It comes down to our personal relationships with Jesus Christ.
Going before Him and seeking His face.
When we are living for Jesus we will WANT to give everything to Him
and we will WANT  to bring honor and glory to Him
ESPECIALLY in our relationships here on earth
because they are meant to be a picture of Christ and the church.
We can never serve the Lord too much! :)

We constantly laugh with each other. We just bring it out in each other I guess!

See that look on his face? That is a look he gets often. Lol :) It is a "whoops shouldn't have said that look"

I have a Fiancee!?!?

So it is a new year.
Something that I am so thankful for.
A fresh start.
A new beginning.
Another chance.
God is so gracious!
This year I have started with a fiancee.
What an amazing blessing that has been!
People say that a relationship should be a
picture of our relationship with God.
I am amazed.
The fact that Jason has seen me at my absolute worse.
And yet he still loves me.
In spite of me.
In the same way-
Jesus knows me better than I know myself.
And yet He loves me in spite of me!
Jason is my prince.
Jesus Christ is my King!
I want to start living like Jesus is my King.
I was challenged last night.
See-I am a very fearful person.
Very timid.
Do not like to ever stir things up.
I am a people pleaser.
Always looking for people's approval.
I say that I believe the Lord is in control.
But in my day-to-day life I do not live like I believe it.
No more.
By God's grace I am purposing in my heart
to in this New Year
to start being more bold.
Not bold in myself.
But bold in my Jesus.
Bold in knowing that He will take care of me.
Bold in knowing that my Jesus will keep His promises.
Boldness.
Living for Jesus' approval.
Not allowing what people may think to rule my life.
But instead, just caring about what Jesus thinks.
Not being a people pleaser.
But being a Jesus pleaser
(living my life for Him alone).
I can no longer just think about it.
Just talk about it.
I can pray about it
and then-
step out in faith.
Trusting the Lord to take care of me.
Fear and worry sometimes control my life.
No more!
I have freedom that is found in my Savior.
What is there to be afraid of
with Him by my side?
These are things that the Lord has been teaching me on this trip.
I am so thankful for a gracious, merciful Savior!
What a trip this has been!
And what fun it has been for Jason and I!
It has finally began to sink in
that we are engaged!
This trip we have
had many adventures-

We got to go to Silver Springs and ride
a glass bottom boat.
You could see 55 feet down in places!
We got to go parasailing
which was so much fun!

Drove through the night and got to Key West
in time to see the sunrise over the water.

I have a fiancee.
I am so so thankful!
This trip has been amazing!
Not only have we been able to have fun together
but we have also been able to minister
side by side
which is the neatest part by far!
It has finally sunk in!
I get to spend the rest of my life with this man!
I am so blessed!
God is so good!
